Lanier Partners of North Georgia Announces A NASCAR Hood raffle – Great Clips #38 Hood to be raffled for the Benefit of a Local Hall County Sheriffs Deputy
Buford, Georgia, July 30, 2011 - Lanier Partners of North Georgia, Inc., a Georgia non-profit organization in association with a local donor will hold a raffle to benefit a local sheriff’s deputy. The prize is an Official NASCAR Hood from Turner Motorsports belonging to the #38 Great Clips car. Raffle tickets may be purchased online at http://lanierpartners.org. The raffle tickets will only be $20.00 each and you can buy as many as you like. The proceeds of the raffle will benefit a local Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy who has demonstrated not only excellence in the field and serving Hall County, but who’s family has faced one of life’s greatest challenges.
Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy Joey Haban and his wife Kristina were expecting the birth of their daughter to be a joyous occasion. The difference is that she was born at only 24 weeks and weighed a mere 15 ounces. Katie Jo has endured many surgeries and overcome many obstacles in her first year of life. She wasn’t expected to survive, however she was only 1 of 12 born in the same period that survived this long. Katie Jo turned 1 year old in May!
Through this entire process, Joey and his wife have endured many sleepless nights, trips to the hospital and well over 1 Million dollars in medical expenses in saving their daughter’s life. They have also lost their family home due to these expenses and Kristina has had to resign her position with the Arcade Police Department to take care of Katie Jo full time. Joey is working as many 12 hour shifts as he can get with the HCSO and taking any part-time job he can as well as laying tile and construction – anything he can to help make ends meet for his family.
The donor, Mr. Tom Petska, is a local resident on Lake Lanier in Hall County. He won the hood in a previous charity auction and is paying it forward again. The winner will also have the opportunity to take the Hood to Atlanta Motor Speedway on Labor Day Weekend to get it signed by Kasey Kahne. Other signatures of the Great Clips Racing Team could be Reed Sorenson, Jason Leffler, and Justin Allgaier and possibly James Buescher. “I try to do something nice every year for someone or some group. I feel blessed and I am thankful that I am healthy and have 2 beautiful healthy girls” said Mr. Petska. “It’s our responsibility to step up and do what’s right for others – Pay it forward however you can. Please help support our local hometown hero’s.”
The drawing will be conducted by Lanier Partners associates on Sunday September 11, 2011 at 6 pm. The Hood may be picked up in Buford at the conclusion of the drawing.
